Trip Down Memory Lane: Phil Cowan (1990)

February 26th, 2008 Posted in California, Local Media, Media, Personal, Radio, Sacramento

As promised yesterday, the second of two photos featuring me as a three-year-old with Sacramento radio legends Paul Robins and Phil Cowan. Phil is pictured above.

Phil split from The Paul And Phil morning show on KGBY 92.5 in 2005. While Paul and co-host Lori Sacco continued the morning show, Phil hosted his own lunchtime talk program on KSTE 650AM. The show was cancelled last November, replaced by a business-type show. Paul and Lori’s morning program were cancelled less than a month later on KGBY when the station decided to flip to an alternative format.

According to a recent edition of The Sacramento Bee, Phil has since moved on from radio and landed employment with Ross Marketing of Fair Oaks (or possibly Mountain View, since I couldn’t find a Fair Oaks location). Phil looks forward to being his own boss at what he describes is a “full-service advertising agency.” I’m sure all of his former listeners wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavors.

Again.. what a cute picture!!! When Phil left, it just wasn’t the same… and now that they’ve both left, and changed everything.. I don’t even listen…
    Best of luck to Phil!

I miss them, they were a part of my workday mornings for 18 years.

Their humor about our everyday lives struck home so many times. It was just fun listening to regular guys share their lives in a way that just kept me laughing on my way to work.

I wish the best for them and their families, and continue to miss them.

    I’m no longer a devoted Y92 fan.
