Trip Down Memory Lane: Paul Robins (1990)

February 25th, 2008 Posted in California, Local Media, Personal, Radio, Sacramento, Special Interest

Thought it would be nice to take a trip down memory lane today. The photo above is me with Paul Robins, formerly of the Paul & Lori show on KGBY 92.5FM. You may remember that Clear Channel asked Paul to leave back in December when the media company decided it would flip the station from a soft rock, at-work station to an adult alternative station.

Pictured is yours truly, taken in October 1990, with Paul Robins at Vacaville’s Nut Tree Family Park (the first version, before the park was shut down and resurrected in 2006). Paul was nice enough to pose for a photo op with me seventeen years ago. On his last day at KGBY, I wrote him an e-mail about that moment when I met him as a kid. He read the e-mail on-air, but couldn’t remember taking the photo with me.

Tomorrow, I’ll post a photo of me with Phil Cowan, taken at the same event. I was lucky enough to meet the two nicest, most talented guys in radio.

    Anyone heard from Paul lately?

I used to do the Fake Web pages for him, and need to contact him.

    Thanks.

  2. Richard Says:

Awww, such a cute little guy. :)

  3. Monica Says:

Awww.. cute pic! Love the antennae pumpkins!

I don’t understand why Paul’s listeners haven’t begun a revolt and demanded that 92.5 hire Paul back. He must have thousands of fans. That’s got to mean something. I sent a complaint to Clear Channel at the time the announcement was made. They never responded (big surprise). I won’t listen to that station any longer.

  5. Lori Says:

Hey Kiddo, how about those incredibly cute bangs? That is cool though, I loved Paul & Phil.

I have been thinking of Paul Robbins lately. Do you know what has become of him and his family? Let me know any info you have. I’m just a fan of his and Phil’s.
