KTXL Borrows Story From RadioMatthew.com
Catch the Fox 40 News at 10PM? Fox 40 borrowed a story from this blog on the “Free Can of Dr. Pepper” campaign launched between Dr. Pepper and Axl Rose.
“But Matthew, how would you know that Fox 40 borrowed the story from you?” Simple: I checked Google News and other news search engines. The story I worked on was from March 26th, 2008 via CNN Money. It is ‘old news’ and has not been mentioned since late March of this year. Since I wrote about the Dr. Pepper thing today, as well as a write-up on the new General Manager at KTXL, I can only assume the story idea came from yours truly. I can put two and two together.
Thanks, KTXL, for being a loyal reader! And for all you skeptics out there, this should be proof that I don’t just watch CBS 13.

This reminds me of an interesting stat I heard the other day, which is cool and kind of scary…84% of journalists have or would use blogs as a primary or secondary source. And 25% of journalists say blogs make their job easier and 54% say blogs have sparked story ideas.
