Sacramento Bee Recognizes RadioMatthew.com
The Sacramento Bee added a new feature to its 21Q blog this week. The five writers of the SacBee’s Ticket section each listed their favorite blogs to visit throughout the week, and RadioMatthew.com was listed toward the top!
It’s a pretty big accomplishment to be recognized by local media out here, one that I’m not ashamed to pride myself on. Stories like the UC Davis crime survey, the departure of both Paul Robins and Phil Cowan from Sacramento radio, Clear Channel’s launch of Pride Radio, and all of the technology, music and local media posts have established a trust between this blogger and the Sacramento community. It’s shown in the response that established media have had on these blog entries.
It’s also gained some recognition around the Internet world. A journalism student in Pennsylvania wrote to me yesterday after visiting my blog and said, “I wish Philadelphia had a local media blog like yours.” It’s nice to get e-mails on a somewhat-daily basis from new and constant readers alike; those e-mails help keep me going.
I think it goes without saying that the Ticket’s media blogger Sam McManis is probably the one person out of the five reporters at The Bee who indulges in these blog entries. I think this would probably be a good time to clear the air a little about my feelings toward Sam. My comments on his entries can sometimes be harsh and I think that comes off as a misrepresentation on how I feel about the guy. Sam was one of the first reporters to give this blog any kind of mainstream media recognition when he wrote about it in his article last year on the 10th anniversary of blogging. I like, and respect, Sam McManis and while I can’t say for certain how he feels about me, I know he respects my input and opinion, so there’s no ugliness between me and him.
Alright, enough of the self-indulging. Thanks to everyone who has read this blog past and present, and welcome to all of the new readers linking from The Sacramento Bee.
I'm a 21-year-old technology, music and local media blogger from Sacramento, California.
