Remainders (101 in 1001)

December 29th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Personal

I like how the past handful of days has been plagued with change. I’ve given a lot of thought to what my 2008 will bring me when it finally decides to arrive on Tuesday. The one thing I feel like I’m going to change—and it’ll be a big one—is the ability to commit to something.

I’m not talking about my relationship with Ninja Jim, because that’s just fine. I’m talking about my ability to commit to things that I want or need. So I’ve decided to sign up for this 101 in 1001 thing I keep hearing about. Basically, I’ll list out 101 things that I can do to better myself (and remain committed to it), with 1,001 days to complete the list (so roughly over two years). For the first year, I can keep track of the days with a nice calendar that I got in the mail from Richard a few days ago (now, I’ll have no excuse for not getting my Christmas cards out on time next year).

I can definitely tell you that making amends, or attempting to anyway, with people I’ve pissed off over recent times will be something that makes the list. That will take a lot of time, effort and emotion and it’ll likely throw me into a roller coaster, but in the end it’ll be the right thing to do. I sort of came to an understanding tonight that my assertiveness gets mistaken, and sometimes rightfully, for abrasiveness. I’ll need to fix that. Along with making amends with the people I’ve upset will be strengthening my relationships with the people I’m blessed to know in life and who are grateful to have me in theirs.

When my list of 101 things is drafted out, I’ll link you to it on the blog. Have a good New Years everyone, I’ll be back sometime after January has started. I know you all got jipped on the Music Video Monday because of the My925 stuff, so I’ll figure out some way to make it up.
