New Jazz CD From The Weather Channel

November 28th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Music

For the past twenty years, people have been writing into the Weather Channel (American version) wondering what the smooth jazz tracks were playing in the background during the Local on the 8s feature. Apparently a list of the tracks from month to month wasn’t enough to satisfy diehard WX fans like myself, so just in time for the holiday season, the Weather Channel has released a compact disc compiling smooth jazz favorites from the Weather Channel staff.

The disc features tracks from smooth jazz masters Dave Koz, Ryan Farish and Joyce Cooling as well as jazz bands Pieces of a Dream and Four 80 East. The album is currently being sold at Amazon.com as well as Target for about $14 (it’ll be in my Amazon.com wishlist, as soon as I can figure out how to make one, for anyone who wishes to indulge me in the gift of weather music).

Looks like this will be an ongoing thing for the Weather Channel. This disc is “Volume 1″ of the best-of series, leading one to believe that more albums will be produced in the future. Maybe a Christmas-themed album sometime?
